77th Chin National Day will held in Hakha, led by SAC

In Hakha City, the capital of Chin State, ministers appointed by the military council and major generals will lead the celebration of 77th Chin National Day.

Last year, the 76th Chin National Day was successfully held in Hakha, the capital of Chin State, without any issues.

In Hakha City, Chin State, ministers appointed by the military council and major generals are preparing to lead the celebration of the 77th Chin National Day, which falls on February 20, according to Zalen News.

“A lot more preparations are being made compared to previous years. It seems that high-ranking national officials will attend this time. Government department staff are also actively participating in the preparations,” said a local resident of Hakha.

Since the military coup, no top state officials, including Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, have attended the annual Chin National Day celebrations in Hakha, according to reports.

Chin State Chief Minister Dr. Vum Suan Thang inspected the preparations for the 77th Chin National Day on February 13, according to an official statement from the military council.

Additionally, during the preparations, the Chief Minister reviewed presentations from various departments and suggested that exhibition displays should effectively showcase public welfare initiatives, ongoing projects, and government policies that people should be aware of.

Hakha is not only the capital of Chin State but also one of the four townships under the military council’s control in the region.

Meanwhile, in neighboring towns such as Thantlang and Falam, intense clashes continue between military council forces and Chin resistance groups over control of the towns.

Last year, a ceremony of the 2024 76th Anniversary Chin National Day was held at Hakha military station sport ground in the morning on 20th February and attended by SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, SAC member Dr. Hmu Htan, Union Ministers, Chin State Chief Minister, Deputy Ministers and officials.

The SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo, SAC member Dr. Hmu Htan, union ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Chin State Chief Minister Dr. Wong Hsun Htan opened the 76th Chin National Day decorated entrance by cutting ribbon and posed for the documentary photo.
