Arakan Army Seizes Military Base in Bago Region

The Arakan Army Seizes Military Base, Bagan-Kwe frontline base in Pantanaw Township, Bago Region, causing hundreds of junta troops to flee in disarray.

After AA and its allied forces seized the base on February 15, around 100 junta soldiers were killed, while the remaining 100 troops reportedly scattered, fleeing toward Rakhine Yoma and various locations within Pantanaw Township.

“A number of junta soldiers fled toward Nyaung Kyo, while others escaped along the Kyauk Phu Chaung route. Many abandoned their weapons on the road. Fighting is ongoing in Nyaung Kyo after the fall of Bagan-Kwe, and after Nyaung Kyo, the next target will be Kha Pa Sa-6,” a military source told the Ayeyarwaddy Times.

Following the fall of the Moetitaung base, the junta attempted to fortify its positions in Nyaung Kyo, Nyaung Cha Htauk, and Bagan-Kwe by setting up defensive strongholds and deploying heavy artillery. However, the junta was unable to reclaim Moetitaung and was forced to retreat. After regrouping at Bagan-Kwe and Nyaung Kyo, their Bagan-Kwe base was overrun, leading to further disorganized retreats.

The junta is reportedly growing increasingly concerned about the security of its defense equipment factories following the fall of the Bagan-Kwe base. In response, reinforcements have been deployed from Ushoepin to Nyaung Kyo and Nyaung Cha Htauk using military trucks, while defensive positions have been established in high-rise buildings, including monasteries and schools in Nyaung Kyo.

Additionally, in Nyaung Chay Htauk, near the No. 6 Defense Equipment Factory, the junta has been constructing new bunkers and digging communication trenches.

Currently, the AA has expanded its offensive operations in Rakhine State, capturing military positions in Ngaphe Township, including Upper Tone Gyi, Lower Tone Gyi, and Ma Htone Gate, and advancing towards the strategic Nat Yekan area.

Recently the Arakan Army (AA) is conducting attacks to capture Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State, and residents report that the fighting is becoming increasingly fierce.
