Six Minor Earthquakes Recorded in Myanmar and Northern Thailand
Six minor earthquakes, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 2.6, were recorded in Myanmar and northern Thailand on the morning of Thursday, May 8, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
The Earthquake Observation Division reported that two of the tremors occurred in Thailand.
The first quake struck at 4:04 a.m. in Yap Hua Na Subdistrict, Wiang Sa District of Nan Province. It had a magnitude of 1.7 and a depth of 1 kilometre, with the epicentre located at latitude 18.682° North and longitude 100.371° East.
The second tremor followed at 4:52 a.m. in the same subdistrict, measuring 1.5 in magnitude and also at a depth of 1 kilometre. Its epicentre was pinpointed at latitude 18.679° North and longitude 100.369° East.
As of now, there have been no reports of property damage in Thailand, the department stated.
Authorities are advising residents to stay updated through official channels, inspect their homes and buildings for structural safety, and prepare basic emergency supplies.
